Mission Statement
The Gulf Coast Technology Community is helping to transform the region by fostering the long-term growth and innovation of the technology sector in Mobile and Baldwin Counties and the central Gulf Coast. We promote the Gulf Coast region as an advanced technology hub that provides solutions for innovation in all industries and is a leader in the creation of technology-based industries, applications, and a skilled workforce.
Strategic Goals
Increase visibility of technology companies along the Gulf Coast
- Strategically highlight successful technology companies along the Gulf Coast
- Provide elevator statement and links to member websites
- Provide sponsor opportunities for meetings
- Get help from Chamber communications team to reach our visability goal
Develop a highly-skilled workforce to champion innovation and growth in the technology solutions arena
- Provide local internship opportunities and advertise job opportunities
- Provide scholarships to local students
- Serve on industry advisory boards
- Increase interaction between all levels of education, their faculty/students, and area technology companies at meetings and other events
Facilitate the recruitment of technology companies and professionals to the Gulf Coast
- Assist the Chambers, City, County, and State in the attraction and recruitment of new technology- dependent companies
- Attract new technology-based companies through outreach and educational activity in the region
- Help market the Gulf Coast as a center for technology development
- Get help from Chamber Communications Department
Increase Capital Funding opportunities for area businesses to start-up and expand
- Provide links on website to Angel Network and other funding groups
Facilitate access to resources that will support the creation of infrastructure to maximize the area’s competitiveness and create new spin-out technology companies
- Support the University of South Alabama’s incubator, the Coastal Innovation Hub at the USA Technology & Research Park
- Support the Airport Authority incubator at Brookley Aeroplex
- Support the City/County incubator
- Support co-working spaces; Innovation Portal, Container Yard, The Hatch
Provide an environment for professional and technical development through mentoring and peer networking, enhancing target competencies, leadership skills, teamwork, ability to compromise, and self-awareness.
- Offer professional presentations that create interest and desire for potential members to attend
- Host conversations with regional CTOs and educators
- Host an annual TechMixer, and afterhours social networking event for the local technology sector
